Sundargarh, Mar 9: Police in Sundargarh district have foiled a ganja smuggling operation, seizing more than one quintal of the contraband from a truck and arresting two men in connection with the case.

The accused, Ajay Kumar and Virendra Pal, both residents of Punjab, were apprehended during the crackdown. Authorities also recovered three mobile phones and ₹6,100 in cash from their possession.

According to reports, the Sundargarh Town Police, acting on specific intelligence, intercepted the truck while it was travelling from Sambalpur to Rourkela. Preliminary investigations revealed that the ganja was being transported from Boudh district in Odisha to Ludhiana in Punjab.

The contraband, hidden inside eight sacks among cashew shells, weighed 1 quintal, 46 kg, and 300 grams, with an estimated market value of around ₹30 lakh.
