Kolkata, February 3: A powerful earthquake struck Myanmar on Tuesday, registering an estimated magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale. The tremors were felt in Kolkata, though no reports of casualties or damage have surfaced as of now.

This incident follows two seismic events in India the previous day. On Monday, a magnitude 4.6 earthquake hit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at approximately 3:30 am, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake originated at a depth of 10 km, with coordinates placed at latitude 9.03 North and longitude 92.78 East.

In another significant tremor, a magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck the Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir early Monday.

The quake occurred at 5:35 am, with the epicenter located near the Pattan area, officials confirmed.
