World Pharmacist Day observed at IMS and SUM Hospital

Bhubaneswar, Sept 25: The World Pharmacist Day was observed at the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital here on Thursday with speakers highlighting the crucial role played by pharmacists in the healthcare system.

“It is the pharmacists who decide the proportion of medicine needed by the patient which leads to wellness,”  Saswati Das, Vice-President of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), said.

Das, who attended ‘Elixir’-- the program organised by the hospital’s Department of Pharmacy as chief guest, praised pharmacists for their diligence which provided vital support to the healthcare ecosystem.

She congratulated the pharmacists of the hospital for the service being rendered by them over two decades.

The theme of this year’s World Pharmacist Day’ is ‘Think Health, Think Pharmacist’.

The program was also attended by Mamina Patnaik, Drug Controller, Odisha, who underlined the role played by pharmacists. She also called upon the young people to distance themselves from consumption of narcotic substances.

Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, Vice-Chancellor of the university, presided over the function which was also addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Sanghamitra Mishra, Dean of IMS and SUM Hospital, Prof. (Dr.) Pusparaj Samantasinghar, Medical Superintendent of the hospital and Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar Lenka, Medical Superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital-2, Phulnakhara.  Dr. Jasmin Panda, Head of Department of Pharmacy, proposed the vote of thanks. ​​​​​​​
