The sand art showed a powerful image of a young person's skeleton, symbolizing how harmful tobacco can be. Cigarettes were placed near the skeleton. Next to it, a woman and child were shown grieving, showing the deep sadness and pain that tobacco-related deaths can cause.
The theme of Sudarsan’s sand art highlights how important it is to stop using tobacco before it's too late.
His strong message reminds us of the deadly effects of tobacco and the need for everyone to work together to stop tobacco-related deaths.
Taking to his X handle, he shared the picture of his sand art and wrote, “#WorldNoTobaccoDay: Through this installation, I hope to remind people that tobacco addiction doesn’t just harm individuals—it deeply affects families and communities. Let’s choose health over habit. #SayNoToTobacco. My sand art at Puri beach.”
Sudarsan Pattnaik said that around 8 million people around the world and 1 million in India die each year because of tobacco-related diseases. Through his artwork, he encouraged people everywhere to spread awareness about the dangers of tobacco and work towards a tobacco-free world.
