London, July 13: After pace bowling legend James Anderson quit international cricket on Friday, England on Saturday announced addition of right-arm fast bowler Mark Wood to their squad for the second Test against visiting West Indies.
The second Test of the three-match series begins Thursday in Nottingham. England are 1-0 up in the three-Test series.
Anderson, who took four wickets in his final Test quit international cricket after England registered a massive victory in the Lord's Test, which ended just in three days.
Anderson bid adieu to international cricket with 704 Test wickets in 188 matches. Among the pace bowlers of all times, he has the highest number of Test wickets.
In the Lord's Test, the hosts stamped their authority against the struggling Caribbean side with an innings and 114 runs victory.
As far Wood is considered, his last Test appearance was in India in March this year and he was not considered for Lord's match having only recently returned from playing the T20 World Cup.
In Wood's absence, England handed a maiden Test cap to Gus Atkinson at Lord's. The Surrey fast bowler grabbed 12 scalps in his first Test appearance giving away only 106 runs. He was the Player of the Match at Lord's.
In the English squad for the second Test, Matthew Potts and the uncapped Dillon Pennington are the other pace-bowling options.
England Team for Nottingham Test:
