Bargarh (Odisha), Aug 26: Sundergarh and Mayurbhanj scripted one-sided victories in the Senior Women's Inter District Football Championship for PC Behera Trophy 2024 against their opponents.
Sundergarh outplayed their familiar opponents Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) by a 3-0 margin on Sunday.
For the winners, Sonia Ekka opened the account with a goal in the 7th minute of the match. Joshna Lakra netted the second goal in the 39th minute to force a double blow in the first half.
The second half too was dominated by Sundergarh women as seasoned Rupashree Munda scored the third goal for the victorious team in the 50th minute.
The RSP women despite several attempts could never beat the Sundergarh goalkeeper. From ball possession, dribbling, midfield control to goal scoring, the winners dominated the entire match.
In another game played on the day, Mayurbhanj completely outplayed their opponents with a 6-0 result.
The goal scorers for Mayurbhanj were their star forward Jabamani Soren, who netted four goals in the first half (4th, 33rd, 35th and 40th minutes). Digi Majhi too joined the party in the 30th minute.
Nabarangpur appeared completely helpless in the first half itself with Jabamani and Co launching multiple raids at their goalpost and scoring five goals.
In the second half, Nabarangpur raised their soccer and foiled several attempts by Mayurbhanj strikers.
However, Mayurbhanj women scored the sixth goal with Digi Majhi netting her second individual goal of the match in the 68th minute. The one-sided match had a final 6-0 result.
