Women's Soccer: Spirited Sundergarh B emerge champions

Bargarh (Odisha), Sep 2: After beating title favourites Keonjhar in the semifinal, Sundergarh B were expected to lift the Senior Women's Inter District Football Championship for PC Behera Trophy 2024.
Sundergarh B played with the same tempo, aggression, intensity and team-spirit in the summit clash. They beat Cuttack in the final on Sunday by a solitary goal in the 62nd minute to emerge champions.
Despite both teams playing intense soccer, the first half was goalless. Trying to first blood, Sundergarh B and Cuttack created some good opportunities, but just failed to implement their plans.
However, after a few missed opportunities by both teams, Suhashini Sha scored the solitary goal in the 62nd minute in second half during the intense title fight. Cuttack though tried to equalise, but just could not beat Sundergarh B goalkeeper.
The winners Sundargarh-B were presented the Champions Trophy and a cash reward of Rs 25,000. Cuttack received the Runners-up Trophy and a cash reward of Rs 15,000.
Chief Guest of the occasion, Bargarh MLA Ashwini Sarangi and Bargarh SP Prahalad Sahai Meena was the guest of honour of the occasion gave away the awards to the winners.
Among others, Football Association of Odisha (FAO) Secretary Ashirbad Behera, FAO Vice President Rabi Narayan Panda, Avijit Paul, Joint Secretary FAO), Biswa Ranjan Gharei, Joint Secretary FAO), Kishore Mishra, District Athletic Association Secretary, Bargarh, FAO Members Prabhat Bhol and Dulal Chandra Pradhan attended the valedictory function.
