Woman trampled to death by elephant in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh, May 6: In yet another instance of man-animal conflict, a woman was trampled to death by an elephant in Sadar Forest Range of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Meri Tete and the incident has been reported from Karamdihi Gitpada under Sadar Forest Range in the district.
As per repots, Tete had gone to collect kendu leaves in the forest along with two other women they came face-to-face with the pachyderm.
Thereafter, the pachyderm attacked them trampling Meri to death on the spot. On the other hand, the other two women managed to escape from the scene.
Upon getting the information, Forest officials and police arrived at the spot and retrieved the woman’s body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
