Bhubaneswar, Jan 10: A massive fire has broken out at Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport, raising concerns about its impact on flight operations. The fire is reported to have spread to the airport’s runway, prompting the dispatch of fire and rescue teams to contain the blaze. Emergency personnel are working hard to control the situation, with ongoing efforts to manage the flames and prevent further damage.

Authorities have begun investigating the cause of the fire, with an inquiry underway to determine whether it resulted from an electrical fault or other factors. Emergency teams are on-site to handle the crisis and mitigate potential risks.

In a separate incident, an Ama bus was completely gutted by fire near Kalinga Studio Square in Bhubaneswar on Saturday morning. The bus, which was operating on the SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar Railway Station route, had passengers onboard when they noticed smoke emerging from the vehicle at around 6:40 am near Kalinga Studio Chhak.

Reacting quickly to the danger, the passengers immediately evacuated the bus. Within seconds, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, causing panic in the area. Fire services rushed to the scene and managed to bring the fire under control. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.

The exact cause of the bus fire is still under investigation, with authorities planning a detailed probe. The incident has once again raised concerns over the safety and maintenance standards of public transport buses operating in the Odisha capital, particularly regarding fire hazards.

Both fires have left the local population on edge, and authorities are under pressure to ensure that better safety measures are put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
