Rourkela, Aug 30: A woman reportedly attempted suicide on the court premises in Odisha’s Sundargarh following acquittal of her paramour.
Protesting the acquittal order, came out today in favour of the paramour who was lodged in jail for allegedly raping her, the woman consumed pills allegedly to end her life, said sources.
As per reports, the woman who is currently on bail in connection with the murder case of her husband had levelled a rape allegation against the paramour identified as Aswini Nayak, who allegedly connived in killing her married spouse.
Today, the District and Sessions Court, Sundargarh in the final hearing of the rape case, ruled that Nayak is acquitted. Following this the woman took the extreme step to end herself before the court.
However, the police rescued her from the spot and rushed her to the hospital for treatment.
The health condition of the victim is stated to be critical.
