Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: A tragic accident near Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar claimed the life of a woman while her husband sustained critical injuries late last night.

The couple, who hailed from Digapahandi area of Ganjam district, had been to the capital city to offer sraddha to ancestors on Diwali. However, a car ran over them near a parking area in Old Town area. While the woman died on the spot, her husband was rushed to Capital Hospital and then shifted to AIIMS in Bhubaneswar.

Being informed, Lingaraj police reached the spot, seized the vehicle and detained the driver for further investigation. Police suspect the driver of the car to have consumed liquor when the mishap took place. Police is also trying to identify the deceased.
