Bhadrak, Oct 10: A woman has allegedly duped Rs 20 lakh from two soldiers on the pretext of love in Odisha.
The incident came to light after both the soldiers lodged two separate FIRs at Bhadrak Rural police station in this regard.
According to reports, the woman, a resident under Bhadrak Rural police limits, was in a relationship with a soldier, Samir Rana, of her village. In several occasions she had taken lakhs of rupees from him and taken a loan from a nationalised bank using Samir's documents for which he is paying the monthly installment.
Samir in his FIR has alleged that the woman has taken a total of Rs 16 lakh from him including the loan money. He also alleged that they had a court marriage and later they parted their ways following dispute. On the other hand, the woman has brought rape allegation against Samir.
Another complainant is a BSF soldier, Santosh Kumar Ranasingh, resident of Udaygiri area under Krushnaprasad police limits in Puri district.
The woman developed friendship with him through social media in 2022 and later both got very close.
The woman told him that her father has met with an accident and asked for a financial help of Rs 5 lakh for treatment.
Santosh sent Rs 2 lakh to the bank account of the mother of the woman and later 2 lakh through PhonePe in several phases between April to June 2022 for further treatment.
When he contacted the woman for return of the borrowed money, she asked him to come to her house and handed a bank cheque in the name of her mother that bounced following which he has filed a complaint at Bhadrak Rural police station.
During counseling it was found that the woman has taken some money from both the soldiers and cases have been registered on the allegations of Samir and the woman, said Bhadrak Rural police station IIC Amitabh Das.
