Berhampur, Oct 12: A female member of the Child Welfare Committee met a gruesome fate. The victim, identified as Soudamini Rath, was reportedly bludgeoned to death.
Soudamini had been a dedicated activist for children's welfare, actively involved with various non-governmental organizations. Her noble endeavors extended to aiding children affected by AIDS, leaving a significant impact on the community she served.
Soudamini, who had ventured out for some works, was returning home when miscreants attacked from behind. Tragically, she lost her life in this vicious attack while engaged in a phone conversation.
Being informed, Town Police SDPO Rajib Lochan Panda and Gosaninuagaon IIC Smruti Prabha Pradhan reached the spot and recovered the body.
The police started investigation into the matter.
While the exact motive behind this heinous murder yet to be ascertained, it is suspected to be the fallout of previous enmity. On the other hand, the police have detained the driver of the deceased on suspicion.
