Baripada, March 9: A woman was caught red handed while lifting two newborn babies from pediatric ward of the distirct headquarters hospital Mayurbhanj on Sunday.

The accused woman has been  identified as Sandhyarani Mahanta, a local of Jhinkiria village, revealed the primary investigation.

Sources said, Sandhyarani allegedly barged into the pediatric ward and was lifting two newborns from the medical bed. Meanwhile, the attendants and security personnel caught her red handed and informed police.

Police rushed to the spot, handed over the newborns to their parents and detained the accused woman.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain other’s connivance if any, in the case.
