Raipur, Jan 17: The popularity of item girl Nisha Maharana has come under scrutiny following an obscene dance performance in Gariaband district, Chhattisgarh. The state government has taken strict action, suspending SDM Tulsi Dash Markam for granting permission in violation of rules. Commissioner Mahadev Kawre initiated the action against the SDM.

The incident occurred in Uramal village during a program where Nisha Maharana and other performers allegedly displayed obscene dance moves. Earlier, three police personnel had been suspended, and 14 event organizers, including Kattimir, were arrested. Dancer Suchitra Jena was also taken into custody by Debbhog police.

A case has been registered against Nisha Maharana at Balangir Sadar police station. To avoid possible arrest, she has approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail. Reports suggest that the performance provoked the audience, leading to property damage such as chairs being broken.

The police continue to investigate, while organizers and performers face legal action under charges of obscenity.
