Mumbai, July 9: With Sri Lanka scheduled to play three T20Is and three ODIs in India from July 27, the focus would be on the Team India's coaching staff.
Since Rahul Dravid has bowed out of the Team India responsibilities as the Head Coach after T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, VVS Laxman has accompanied the young Indian team to Zimbabwe as the Interim Head Coach.
Laxman, who is the Head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), has performed the role of Team India Head Coach temporarily earlier too, during Dravid's tenure, when he (Dravid) opted for a break.
Similarly, the tenures of Team India's Batting Coach Vikram Rathour, Bowling Coach Paras Mhambrey, and Fielding Coach T Dilip has ended with the T20 World Cup 2024.
In the meanwhile, the BCCI appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has interviewed Gautam Gambhir and Woorkeri Venkat Raman for the role of Head Coach. Though Gambhir seems to be the front runner but Raman has more coaching experience and he was with the Indian senior women's team as a successful coach.
It would be therefore interesting to see who would feature in Team India's next group of support staff, which also includes the Head Coach as well.
