Nuapada, April 12: A wild bear wreaked panic inside the Khariar Royal Palace in Odisha’s Nuapad district on Saturday night.
The forest officials failed to tranquilize or trap the straying animal despite a frantic chasing operation due to lack of logistics, alleged the Royal family.
Sources said a wild bear barged into the Khariar Royal Palace at late night after wreaking havoc in the nearest Rajapada residential colony. Following the incident, the members of the royal family were frightened and intimated it to the forest officials. Acting on it, police, fire services personnel and forest teams rushed to the palace and initiated an operation to chase the bear out of the palace, but in vain as the bear strayed almost everywhere in the palace including the dining hall and the kitchen wherein it brought large scale destruction in the rooms.
The bear reportedly went back to the Nuapada forest in the wee hours,sources added.
