Cuttack, Oct 3:  The immersion procession of Goddess Durga idols will be held in Cuttack today, with the city police making elaborate arrangements to ensure safety and order during the event.

Cuttack DCP Rishikesh Khilari informed that for the first time, drones will be deployed to monitor the Bhasani (immersion procession). In addition, more than 500 CCTV cameras have been installed along the immersion route, with visuals monitored in real time through multiple control rooms.

In a bid to tackle noise pollution, the Commissionerate Police has formed a special unit named “CTC 60”. The team will take strict action against processions exceeding the 60-decibel sound limit. Police officials said violators will be warned once; failure to comply will lead to the immediate seizure of sound equipment and registration of cases.

The security measures have been tightened to prevent any untoward incident and to ensure smooth conduct of the immersion rituals, which draw thousands of devotees every year.
