Koraput, Nov 7: At least two youths were electrocuted after coming in contact with an electric wire reportedly laid for hunting wild animals in Laxmipur block of Odisha's Koraput district on Thursday.

The deceased persons have been identified as Gahela Mandinga of Kendupai village and Kumar Miniaka of Pipalpadar village.

As per reports, the incident took place near Kendupai village under Pipalpadar panchayat in Laxmipur when the duo was searching for their missing cattle in a forest. However, they accidentally came in contact with a live electric wire which was reportedly laid for hunting wild animals.

Despite several hours passing since the tragedy, locals alleged that neither the police nor officials from the electricity department had arrived at the scene.

Family members of the deceased were seen sitting beside the bodies, waiting for authorities to take action.

The incident has sparked anger among villagers, who accused the administration of negligence—both for failing to curb illegal hunting activities and for the delayed response. Residents have called for urgent intervention by officials and a thorough investigation into the incident.
