Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has assured that the government is fully prepared to tackle the approaching cyclone. He stated that the Power Department has made arrangements to immediately repair any damaged electric poles. Essential equipment, including electric wires, transformers, and poles, has already been stocked in the nine districts likely to be affected, ensuring that electricity will be restored within 48 hours of the cyclone’s passage.

With the harvesting season underway, authorities have expressed concern over potential damage to paddy crops due to heavy rainfall. District Collectors have been instructed to submit reports on crop losses without delay. During the previous similar situation, compensation was disbursed within seven days, and the government has pledged to provide assistance in the same timeframe this time, Singh Deo added.
