Chennai, July 12: After dominating the multi-format home series against South Africa recently, Indian women's team is gearing up for the Asia Cup 2024 in Sri Lanka.
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur stated that the team is keen to win all matches. India will begin their Asia Cup campaign playing against Pakistan on July 19 in Dambulla.
Speaking about the extra pressure of facing arch rivals Pakistan, Harmanpreet stated there is a different atmosphere in both the countries, whenever India and Pakistan face each other anywhere on any day.
She revealed that since both teams are always desperate to win, so the added pressure is on players. But being the captain, it is her responsibility to make her team feel light in that environment, so that her teammates don’t think that we are playing against Pakistan or it’s a pressure game, she revealed.
Enumerating about her team's approach, Harmanppreet stated that her team pays equal importance to all matches. Indian team is hungry to win every game and the team atmosphere is very positive. All players have one common goal that is to play as a cohesive unit and win all matches, Harmanpreet added.
Worth mentioning that in the recent multi-format home series against Proteas, India made a 3-0 clean sweep of the ODIs, won the solitary Test by 10 wickets and the three-match T20I series was 1-1. The second T20I was abandoned as rains played spoilsport.
