Adelaide, Aug 27: She can take the game away from the opposition, the day she gets going. She is for sure one of the most free flowing batters at top of the order in world cricket.
Flamboyant, southpaw Indian batting mainstay Smriti Mandhana might have been hurt as India failed to win their 8th Women's Asia Cup title recently beaten by Sri Lanka in the island nation.
But she seems to be getting ready to make a strong statement in her future challenges. Prior to the upcoming ICC Women's T20I World Cup later this year, Smriti has signed a contract with Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming 10th season of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL).
The news of Smriti joining their squad was broken on Tuesday by Adelaide Strikers. It can be recalled that Smriti holds two coveted ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year awards, only the second player to achieve this alongside Australia's Ellyse Perry.
As per career statistics, Smriti the all-format fearsome opener has so far played 141 T20Is for India and has scored 3,493 runs at an average of 28.86 and a strike rate of 122.51, with 26 fifties.
Smriti has a special bonding with Strikers coach Luke Williams. Both have worked together in the Women's Premier League (WPL) and also for the Southern Brave for The Hundred.
