Balangir, March 12: A Warden of the Titilagarh Jail in Odisha’s Balangir district was put under suspension in connection with escape of two under trial prisoners (UTPs) from it.
The DIG of Prisons after a probe into the matter, suspended D Dora, Warden on duty, at the time of fleeing of the jail inmates.
The DIG visited the jail on Monday to probe the matter. During his investigation, he found out that the under-trials escaped after climbing the wall no-4 with the help of a ladder. Besides, he found the CCTV footage of the camera installed inside the premises,tactfully erased.
Holding the jail Warden responsible for the escape of undertrial prisoners, the DIG suspended the jail warden.
Worth mentioning, two accused identified as Sumit Bihari, and Shobhavan Rana were lodged in jail in separate murder cases.
Sorcerer Shobhavan Rana was arrested for allegedly killing two children to appease God at Sindheikela while Sumit Bihari had been put in the prison for killing a toddler by throwing him into a well on Kesinga Hospital premises.
Police are yet to nab the absconding under-trial prisoners.
