Cuttack, Aug 27: Train services at Cuttack Railway Station were briefly disrupted on Tuesday afternoon after an old wall collapsed during ongoing station redevelopment work.

There were no injuries or casualties reported in the incident, informed the East Coast Railway (ECoR).

The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 PM on Platforms 1 and 2, leading to a temporary halt in train operations at the affected platforms.

According to a statement issued by East Coast Railway, construction activity was underway with “adequate safety precautions” as part of the station's redevelopment efforts. However, an old wall gave way unexpectedly, falling onto the platform area.

Authorities acted swiftly to assess the situation and begin restoration work.

“Restoration work is already in progress, and the lines are expected to be cleared within 45 minutes,” the official statement added.

Railway officials assured that all necessary safety protocols continue to be followed as part of the redevelopment process, which aims to modernize the busy station.
