Volvo Introduces EX30 Electric SUV to Indian Market
Volvo has expanded its electric vehicle portfolio in India with the introduction of the new EX30, a compact electric SUV priced at ₹41 lakh. Timed for the festive season, the company is also providing a special pre-reserve offer of ₹39.99 lakh for bookings made before October 19, 2025. This launch marks a strategic move by the Swedish automaker to make its electric lineup more accessible to a broader audience.
Local Production and Market Strategy
Significantly, the EX30 will be assembled at Volvo's Hosakote plant near Bengaluru, following the local production model of its other EVs, the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge. This strategy is key to maintaining competitive pricing and enabling quicker delivery times, with the first customer vehicles expected to arrive in early November.
To enhance the ownership experience, Volvo is including a comprehensive package with each EX30. This bundle covers a three-year vehicle warranty, service plan, and roadside assistance, an eight-year battery warranty, and a five-year subscription to connected car services. A wall box charger is also provided as a standard part of the purchase, simplifying the transition to electric mobility for new owners.
Performance and Driving Characteristics
The model launched in India is the Single Motor Extended Range variant. It is equipped with a 69kWh battery that powers a motor producing 272 horsepower and 343Nm of torque. This powertrain enables the EX30 to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in a brisk 5.3 seconds and achieve a WLTP-certified range of 480 kilometers on a single charge. The top speed is electronically limited to 180km/h, consistent with Volvo's safety standards. The vehicle is engineered for urban agility, featuring light steering and one-pedal driving, while also providing the performance needed for comfortable highway cruising.
Focus on Safety and Sustainable Design
Reinforcing the brand's reputation, the EX30 has earned a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. It comes equipped with a suite of advanced safety technologies, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and specialized auto-braking for intersections. The interior reflects a commitment to sustainability, utilizing recycled materials like denim, PET bottles, and aluminum for cabin panels and upholstery. The minimalist dashboard is dominated by a 12.3-inch vertical touchscreen integrated with Google services and a premium nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, creating a modern and eco-conscious cabin environment.
Positioned below the C40 Recharge, the EX30 is set to compete with other premium compact EVs such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and BMW iX1, targeting younger consumers and first-time luxury EV buyers.
