Mumbai, Sep 22: Vodafone Idea Limited has announced a significant deal worth $3.6 billion (₹300 billion) with Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung for network equipment over the next three years. This agreement is part of the company’s broader capital expenditure plan of $6.6 billion (₹550 billion), aimed at enhancing its network infrastructure.
The investment will enable Vodafone Idea to expand its 4G coverage from 1.03 billion to 1.2 billion people and to initiate 5G services in key markets. Additionally, it will increase capacity to accommodate growing data demands.
The company has retained its long-standing partners, Nokia and Ericsson, while also welcoming Samsung as a new collaborator. This partnership is expected to provide access to advanced technologies that will improve customer experiences.
Furthermore, the insights and expertise these vendors have gained in the Indian market over the past two years will facilitate a more adaptable and modular rollout plan, allowing for customized services in both 4G and 5G. The new equipment is also anticipated to enhance energy efficiency, leading to reduced operational costs.
