Bhubaneswar, Oct 24: Former IAS officer VK Pandian has been appointed as Chairman 5T (Transformational Initiatives) and Nabin Odisha in the rank of Cabinet Minister. 

An order to this effect was today published by the General Administration and Public Grievance department. Pandian will work directly under the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Pandian has earlier taken voluntary retirement from service. The Centre on Monday has approved the voluntary retirement of 2000-batch Odisha cadre IAS officer VK Pandian.

“In reference to letter No.GAD-SER1-PERS-0100-2014 dated 20.10.2023 from Government of Odisha on the above mentioned subject, I am directed to convey the approval of the competent authority for acceptance of voluntary retirement of Shri V Kartikeya Pandian, IAS(OD-2000) under Rule 16(2A) of All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement benefits) Rules, 1958 with waiver of the notice period as recommended by the State Government,” read the Centre’s letter.

Pandian started his IAS career as a sub-collector in Dharmagarh in Kalahandi district. He had served as collector of Mayurbhanj and Ganjam.
