Malkangiri, Feb 10: While operation clean is ravaging massive cultivation of cannabis in Odisha, the Malkangiri police discovered a new shift in dealing with the green contraband.
The Malkangiri police in a first busted a green-oil extracting unit in the Chitrakonda area of the district on Monday that revealed the new modus operandi of the interstate cannabis smugglers.
The police during a raid discovered a commercial manufacturing unit of green-oil, produced from hemps, its flowers and seeds.
Over 2 litres of green cannabis-oil that’s worth over Rs 25 lakh in the international market, was seized from the unit with some essential equipment.
During the raid, the police nabbed two Andhra-based smugglers along with two locals.
According to investigation, the green-oil was especially being exported to Nepal, China & other nations, bottled and labelled as essential herbal tinctures.
Further investigation is underway to unearth the string of peddlers involved in the green-oil smuggling, said Malkangiri SP Vinod Patil.
