Gujarat, Sept. 15: A fire reportedly broke out in the coaches of the Dahod-Anand MEMU train at the Jakot station in the Dahod district of Gujarat on Friday.

The fire was brought under control by the firefighters who reached the spot on time.

Sources said the Dahod-Anand MEMU train (an electric multiple-unit train that serves short and medium-distance routes) was leaving for Godhra when the incident took place at the Jakot station.

As one of the coaches caught fire accidentally, it triggered a panic among the passengers who rushed out of the train to save their lives. The smoke was visible from a distance. However, no casualties or injuries were reported.

The Dahod Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and senior railway officers rushed to the spot and took stock of the incident.

According to ASP K Sidhant, the fire broke out in the last compartment of the MEMU train and didn't spread to the remaining coaches due to in time intervention of the fire service personnel.
