Villagers attack police team, vehicle during raid to nab accused in Angul

Angul, Feb 9: A police team in civil dress was attacked by villagers during raid to an accused in Banarpal area of Angul district last night. Three police personnel have been injured in the attack. The villagers also damaged their vehicle. Two platoons of police forces have been deployed in the village following tension in the area. The incident took place when police along with some security personnel of IOCL went to the village to nab a person in connection with oil theft. As the police and security personnel were in civil dress and used a vehicle bearing no number plate, villagers suspected them as child lifters and attacked them.
