Rayagada, May 22: Odisha Vigilance on Friday conducted simultaneous raids at the residence of Tarini Prasad Tripathy, Managing Director (MD) of Kalyansinghpur LAMPS in Rayagada district, over allegations of large-scale financial irregularities.
The searches were carried out at his Jilundi residence following allegations of misappropriation of nearly Rs 70 lakh. Sources said the Vigilance team began the raid early in the morning and is examining documents related to the functioning of the LAMPS.
Tripathy has been accused of embezzling funds in the management of the cooperative society, including alleged irregularities in boundary wall construction and repair works. Preliminary allegations suggest that more than Rs 70 lakh may have been siphoned off.
Earlier, farmers from the Kalyansinghpur area had lodged a written complaint with the Rayagada District Collector alleging large-scale irregularities in the LAMPS. Acting on the complaint, the concerned department initiated an inquiry, following which the Vigilance department launched the raid.
