Bhubaneswar, Nov 10: Odisha Vigilance apprehended Biswabandhu Panigrahi, the Superintending Engineer (SE) of the Public Health (PH) Division in Bhubaneswar, on charges of accumulating disproportionate assets (DA) equivalent to 338 percent of his known income, for which he failed to provide a satisfactory account.

As per an official statement, on the basis of search warrants, Vigilance officials recovered a two-story building in VSS Nagar, Bhubaneswar; a property deal with Assotech involving an advance payment of Rs 39 Lakhs by Panigrahi to acquire a 3-BHK flat in the name of his spouse at Assotech Pride, Bhubaneswar; a single-story building in Mathasahi, Bhadrak; 6 plots in prime locations in Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak; banking, postal, and insurance deposits totaling Rs 4.02 crore; cash amounting to Rs 3,18,000; approximately 421 grams of gold jewelry, including 269 grams found in a locker; and 1 four-wheeler, 4 two-wheelers, and household items valued at around Rs 17 lakh registered under the accused and his family members.
The anti-corruption agency has filed a case against Panigrahi and his spouse under sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) and 12 of the PC Amendment Act, 2018, at the Vigilance Cell police station on Thursday.
