Bhubaneswar, July 31: Odisha Vigilance has apprehended an Assistant Engineer (AE) of Jatni Block in Khordha district for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant.
The anti-corruption team apprehended Nibedita Mohanty, an Assistant Engineer on Tuesday, while she was accepting a bribe from a contractor at her residence in Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar. The contractor had approached Mohanty to clear his pending bill related to government construction projects under Jatni Block.
Officials confirmed that the entire bribe amount was recovered from Mohanty and subsequently seized. Following the arrest, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations associated with Mohanty to investigate her assets.
A case has been registered against Mohanty under Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 16/2024, citing Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
The investigation is currently underway.
