Sundargarh, Feb 29: Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested a Senior Assistant in ESI Dispensary in Rourkela for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant.
The accused has been identified as Abhiram Sahu. Sahu was caught while accepting bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from a complainant (injured in an accident) for processing his medical reimbursement claim under ESI Scheme.
The complainant being a poor man had been repeatedly requesting Sahu to process his medical claim since long. However, Sahu was insisting the complainant pay the demanded bribe of Rs.10,000 to get his work done. But, complainant expressed his inability to pay the bribe and finding no other way, informed Vigilance Authority narrating his harassment by Sahu. Accordingly, vigilance officials planned and trapped Sahu today, while accepting demanded bribe from the complainant. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of accused Sahu.
Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sahu from DA angle.
Investigation is in progress against the accused.
