Mumbai, Feb 21: Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has filed an FIR with the Mumbai Police against an unidentified person who allegedly created a fake Instagram account impersonating her and soliciting money from people.
According to sources, the perpetrator crafted an Instagram profile identical to Vidya Balan's and also set up a corresponding Gmail account. Using these fake accounts, the individual began reaching out to individuals associated with the Bollywood industry.
Reports indicate that the perpetrator misled people by promising job opportunities in exchange for money. Upon learning of this deception, Vidya Balan promptly reported the matter to the Mumbai Police. Acting on her complaint, the Khar Police Station registered an FIR against the unknown person under Section 66 (C) of the IT Act and commenced an investigation.
Vidya Balan took to her official Instagram account to raise awareness about the fraudulent activity. In her Instagram stories, she urged her followers to report and block the fake account, emphasizing the importance of collective action against such scams. The actress herself has taken measures to block and report the impersonating account.
In her post, Vidya Balan explicitly appeals to her followers to take action against the fake account. Meanwhile, on the professional front, Vidya Balan is gearing up for the release of the film "Do Aur Do Pyaar," slated to hit theaters on March 29th of this year. The movie, which also stars Ileana D'Cruz, recently unveiled its poster, generating anticipation among fans.
