​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: With a joyous news for the animal lovers ahead of the New Year, Tigress Jayshree in Odisha’s Nandankanan zoological park, delivered 3 cubs on Sunday.

Out of the newborn cubs, only the male one survived as the tigress ate up one of its kids after birth whereas another female cub accidentally died under the mother’ paws.

Jayashree had mated with tiger Amit in September while it delivered three healthy kids today, said zoo officials.

The male cub is currently under continuous veterinary care and monitoring in the Intensive Care Unit of the Zoo Hospital to ensure its health and well-being.

With the new birth of this cub, the total tiger population at Nandankanan Zoological Park stands at 29. This includes 18 males & 11 females.
