Delhi, July 28: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday released five commemorative books marking the celebration of four years of Presidency of President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice President said that President's inspiring journey from a remote tribal village in Odisha to the highest constitutional office is a powerful testament to the strength and inclusiveness of Indian democracy.

He lauded her commitment to constitutional values, humility, compassion and public service.

Murmu was sworn in as the 15th President of India on July 25, 2022. Prior to this, she served as the 9th Governor of the state of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021.

Born on June 20, 1958, to a Santhal tribal family in Uparbeda in the remote Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, her educational journey began at Uparbeda Primary School. Through her determination and passion for learning, she went on to study in Bhubaneshwar from class-VIII onwards. She became the first girl in her village to pass the matriculation examination and to earn a degree, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics in 1979 from Ramadevi Women’s College, Bhubaneswar.

Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu also launched various projects in virtual mode on the completion of four years of the presidency at Rashtrapati Bhavan marking four years of her Presidency. In her address, she highlighted the nation’s development and cultural renaissance.
