Kandla, May 17:A vessel transporting 20,000 metric tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has reached the Deendayal Port Authority in Kandla, Gujarat, following its passage through the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, officials confirmed on Sunday.
The Marshall Islands-flagged MV SYMI embarked from Qatar and arrived at Kandla port around 11:30 pm on Saturday, after navigating the strategic Strait of Hormuz on May 13, they added.
Since early March, a total of 13 India-flagged vessels—including 12 LPG carriers and one crude oil tanker—have traversed this narrow but crucial waterway near Oman, which handles approximately one-fifth of global energy shipments.
