​​​​​​​Delhi, June 11: The National Song ‘Vande Mataram is to be chanted first and the National Anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ next to it, if both the pious & patriotic songs of the nation are scheduled to be sung during a unique program.

Eliminating public confusion on the sequence of singing ‘Vande Mataram’ and the ‘Jana Gana Mana’ on programs,the Ministry of Home Affairs on firday released guidelines on the orders of singing National Anthem and National Song on Friday on a certain celebration.

According to the guideline issued in this connection, when both ‘Vande Mataram’ & ‘Jana Gana Mana’ are performed together, the National Song (Vande Mataram) must come first followed by the National Anthem (Jana Gana Mana). Following this, the state songs can be duly sung on the program.

The Ministry of Home Affairs with the directives, has informed the Chief Secretaries of States, Uts and the Secretaries of all the Ministries of Government of India and their departments to ensure the scheduled sequences while the National Anthem & National Songs are played or performed during patriotic events.
