Bhubaneswar, January 10: A control room has been opened in view of an accident involving a nine-seater private aircraft with six persons, including two pilots on board force landed near Jalada in Rourkela, about eight nautical miles short of its destination.
All six persons on board survived the incident and now admitted to JP Hospital in Rourkela.
“A control room has been established and made operational at Directorate of Civil Aviation (Landline: 0674-2596128; Mobile: 9861096371),” said an Odisha Government communique.
“A Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) team has started from Bhubaneswar/Kolkata and expected to reach this evening at Rourkela. AAIB is expected to reach by tomorrow for detailed investigation. Two officials from Directorate of Civil Aviation have been dispatched to Rourkela for co-ordination with all the stakeholders,” it said.
According to the release, the incident involved an India One Air type of aircraft (Caravan 208) bearing Regn. The VT-KSS was flying from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela.
It departed at 12:27 hours from Bhubaneswar airport and eight nautical miles short of reaching Rourkela, the aircraft force landed at a place near Jalda.
All the injured persons were rescued by the locals immediately and they were initially rushed to Rourkela Government Hospital and later shifted to JP Hospital, Rourkela.
Accident has been informed to Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of Civil Aviation and all concerned. As per the Regulations, Airline shall be reporting the details to the DGCA / Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) for further actions, the statement stated.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed the situation and directed the concerned officials to extend all the support from the State to the passengers, pilots and authorities. He also directed for best possible treatment facilities to all the injured persons.
Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena is also monitoring the situation constantly. Department Secretary Usha Padhee has been monitoring the situation and coordinating the concerned officials from the Central and State Governments.
