Bolangir, Mar 2: In a significant achievement for Odisha Police’s ongoing anti-Naxal operations, Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania announced on Sunday that the districts of Bolangir and Bargarh are now officially Naxal-free.

This success follows the surrender of 15 cadres from the Bolangir-Bargarh-Mahasamund (BBM) division of the banned CPI (Maoist) in Mahasamund district, Chhattisgarh, earlier on the same day. With their surrender, both Bargarh and Bolangir have been completely cleared of Naxal activities, as confirmed by the DGP.

Khurania attributed the achievement to a combination of factors, including prolonged joint operations, precise intelligence gathering, coordinated efforts between central and state security forces, and the active cooperation of local residents. He also praised the courage, restraint, and unwavering commitment shown by the police forces throughout the operation.

The DGP extended his congratulations to all officers and personnel involved in the operations and expressed gratitude to the local communities for their continued trust and support.

Khurania assured that similar intensified operations will be carried out in other Naxal-affected areas of the state to ensure the complete eradication of the Naxal threat at the earliest.
