UP accident: PM Modi announces Rs 2 lakh ex gratia

Lucknow, July 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced compensation through the Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for those affected by the tragic bus-tanker accident in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao. He declared an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the families of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to each injured individual.
The accident occurred when a double-decker bus collided with a milk tanker on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway early Wednesday morning, resulting in the loss of 18 lives and leaving over 30 others injured. Images from the scene depict a scene of devastation with bodies on the ground, mangled metal, shattered glass, and damaged belongings.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. UP Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh acknowledged the severity of the incident and extended condolences to the bereaved families. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed sorrow and instructed officials to ensure the injured receive appropriate medical care.
