The chances of Team India leveling the series have taken a severe hit on the third day of the Guwahati match. In the ongoing Indvs SA 2nd Test, South Africa has firmly taken control, leaving the hosts struggling to stay alive in the contest. The primary architect of India’s misery was Marco Jansen, whose fiery spell of fast bowling dismantled the Indian batting order.

South Africa has secured a commanding position, ending the day with a massive overall lead of 314 runs. Earlier, the visitors bowled India out for a meager 201 runs, gaining a significant first-innings advantage of 288. While the pitch in Guwahati didn't offer excessive demons, it was Jansen’s ability to extract steep bounce that caused chaos.

India actually began the day with some promise. They were placed decently at 95 for 1, looking to cut down South Africa's massive first-innings total of 489. However, things went downhill rapidly. The middle order collapsed spectacularly, sliding to 122 for 7 in a shocking session of play.

YashasviJaiswal was the only top-order batter who looked comfortable, scoring a well-made 58. However, even he couldn't survive the onslaught, falling to a sharp catch by Jansen off his own bowling. Later down the order, Washington Sundar showed grit with a fighting 48, building a partnership with KuldeepYadav to delay the inevitable, but it wasn't enough to save the innings.

The day belonged entirely to Marco Jansen. He utilized the short ball to perfection, removing key batters like DhruvJurel, RavindraJadeja, and Nitish Kumar Reddy. His aggressive bowling resulted in a brilliant six-wicket haul for 48 runs. This performance puts South Africa on the brink of a rare series sweep on Indian soil.

Captain Rishabh Pant, leading the side in this Test, could not inspire a counter-attack, falling cheaply to an edge. With South Africa ending the day at 26 for no loss in their second innings, India faces an uphill battle to save the match and their reputation at home.
