Mumbai, Dec 6: IndiGo cancelled more than 400 flights across four major airports on Saturday, just a day after obtaining temporary relief from the second phase of court-mandated revisions to flight duty and rest rules for pilots, according to sources.

The cancellations affected operations in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad.

At Bengaluru airport, 124 flights were scrapped — 63 departures and 61 arrivals.

In Mumbai, the airline called off 109 flights, comprising 51 departures and 58 arrivals.

At Delhi airport, 106 flights were cancelled, including 54 departing and 52 incoming services.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad saw 66 IndiGo flights grounded.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation said the central government is closely monitoring the situation and is in continual communication with all relevant stakeholders to address passenger grievances.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated that an inquiry has been initiated into the disruptions and assured that those responsible will be held accountable.

He emphasized that restoring normal operations is the government’s immediate priority and added that the Centre is reviewing the new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules, which have been linked to the wave of cancellations. The implementation of these norms has currently been put on hold.
