Bhubaneswar, May 28: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, arrived in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday for a two-day official visit to Odisha.
His visit is marked by a series of events aimed at strengthening the state's agricultural and rural development sectors.
Upon his arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport, Chouhan was accorded a warm welcome by a delegation of senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Odisha. Among those who received him were Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo, BJP Odisha state president Manmohan Samal, and other prominent party functionaries.
As per the official itinerary, Chouhan will travel to Puri on Thursday, where he will formally launch the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’, a flagship campaign envisioned to promote modern agricultural practices and ensure inclusive rural development.
Later in the day, the Union Minister will return to Bhubaneswar to participate in an interaction session with women farmers at the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA). The session is aimed at encouraging greater participation of women in agriculture and aquaculture, while also highlighting their contributions to food security and rural livelihoods
