Bhubaneswar, Jan 29:Following abundant success of the 108 Ambulance Service, the Odisha government is all set to launch 109 Free Hearse Service soon.

Odisha Health & Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling informed the development on Thursday.

Underlining the significance of a hearse service at need, Mahaling said the time is apparently closer when someone will avail a free hearse van dialing 109.

The toll-free No. 109 will serve people providing a free-hearse van as soon as possible, after dialing the controlroom, said Mahaling during a review meeting held at Gajapati today.

Mahaling said, The Odisha government will soon roll out a dedicated hearse vehicle service across the state. It will address the difficulties faced by families in transporting a body at need, from hospitals to their homes. The hearse service will be accessible through a toll-free number 109, enabling timely and dignified transportation of bodies.

According to the minister, the specially designated vehicles will be stationed at District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs) and medical colleges throughout Odisha to ensure quick hearse service everywhere.
