The incident occurred on November 20, 2025, at approximately 9:45 PM, when a group of armed assailants intercepted a vehicle transporting cash, gold, and silver from Radha Krushna Jewellery on NH-316, near the Samjajpur Over-Bridge. The robbers, brandishing a pistol, successfully made off with the valuable loot.

Sanjay Kumar Das, proprietor of Radha Krushna Jewellery, Chandanpur, had filed the case.

In response to the robbery, the Superintendent of Police, Puri, ordered the formation of two Special Investigation Wings. Intensive raids across multiple hideouts led to the arrest of the four suspects between December 1 and 2, 2025.

The investigation revealed that Tukula Nayak, a local jewellery shop owner with prior knowledge of the victim's operations, had conspired with Bapi Pradhan. Bapi, in turn, recruited three criminals from Andhra Pradesh to execute the robbery. The gang used a Skoda car and a motorcycle to carry out the heist and escape the scene. The stolen gold and silver were recovered from the arrested individuals, who have since confessed to their involvement in the crime.

The authorities are continuing their efforts to identify any additional individuals involved in the robbery.
