Bhubaneswar, June 10: Though southwest monsoon has arrived in Odisha earlier than usual, conditions for advancement of monsoon are not favourable during the next five days, the Bhubaneswar IMD said.
The further advancement of southwest monsoon in Odisha is likely to be slow as there is no significant weather system over the Bay of Bengal which can enhance its progress, said Manorama Mohanty, director of Bhubaneswar IMD.
Parts of interior Odisha are experiencing heatwave conditions due to lack of significant rainfall activity. The monsoon current in the Bay of Bengal branch has weakened too, she added.
The heatwave condition will prevail in interior districts and sultry weather in coastal districts for next three days.
Heatwave condition is prevailing in parts of Odisha under the influence of dry north-westerly winds blowing towards the state.
