Puri, January 21: Bomb threat to Puri Jagannath Temple on social media has been proved hoax, said Puri SP Prateek Singh on Wednesday.

Unveiling the mystery shrouded over the online threat to the Shreemandir, Grand Centre and a standing Rajya Sabha MP, the SP said that a red-faced youth rejected by a woman, spread the panic through a fake Facebook account to take avenge on his love.

The accused, identified as Pratik Mishra was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

Sharing detailed investigation and the modus operandi of the spurned lover Puri SP said, Mishra was dating with a woman identified as Juli Rani Panda. As the relationship went deeper, he desperately begged her hand, however in vain. The woman rejected the youth’s bid and soon blocked his number.

Deeply anguished over it, Mishra, resorted to take revenge on the woman and resolved to draw her into soup. Accordingly, he tactfully fetched a duplicate SIM card and created a fake Facebook account using the woman’s credentials. Later on, he shared alarming threats relating Puri Jagannath Temple, Rajya Sabha MP Subhasish Khuntia and Grand Center.

Acting on a complaint, the Singhadwara Police swung into action and reached at the offender, unearthing details of his malicious bid, the SP added.
