Bargarh, Nov. 23: A mob on Tuesday reportedly killed two youths suspecting them as thieves.
The incident took place in the Sahutikra under the Sadar police station in Odisha’s Bargarh district in the afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Bijay Bag of Pandiripathar and Biku Jal who hails from Bargarh, under the same police limits.
Sources said, four youths were aimlessly moving in the Sahutikra village in the afternoon. Meanwhile, a few residents suspected their activities and detained them. At that time, one of them managed to escape from the spot. As a mob gathered there, the locals thrashed the trio black and blue suspecting them thieves.
As a result, one of the youths died on the spot while two others were critically injured.
Being informed, the police rescued the injured ones, identified as Biku Jal of Sambalpur and Surat Karmi of Pandiripathar, and rushed them to the district headquarters hospital for treatment. However, BIku succumbed to injuries during his treatment.
Police have started an investigation into the matter.
